The annual PRIDE (Proud Residents Involved in Developing our Economy) Banquet will be held, 6:30-9 p.m., Thursday, May 13 at the Horseshoe Casino Riverdome. This elegant gala is the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau’s chance to say thank you to thousands of people that make this area a true tourist destination. The PRIDE Awards Banquet is part of National Travel and Tourism Week.
The Hospitality/Tourism Industry employs some 37,100 people in the Shreveport-Bossier area. The PRIDE Banquet is held every year in order to honor the frontline people - the heart of the tourism industry - in front of their hospitality peers. These honorees are mostly the men and women who first meet our visitors and are responsible for making their stay a positive one. Their dedication to their jobs also helps the community by saving each household in Caddo-Bossier Parish $190 in taxes annually.
“We are so very proud of our industry,” said Stacy Brown, bureau president. “They are the reason, why Shreveport-Bossier is the number two destination in the state and our popularity continues to rise with the leisure tourists, conventioneers and film makers.
Around 32 awards will be given in various categories and an estimated 300 people are expected to attend this year’s banquet. Some of the Hospitality Awards include: Outstanding Guest Service/Front Desk, Outstanding Food Service/Banquet, Outstanding Community Awareness, Tourism Promoter of the Year, Distinctive Service Awards, and Convention Awards.
This event is open to the public. Tickets are $25 per guest. Please call 318-222-9391 to RSVP to the event.
