SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER, LA – Beginning on July 27 and continuing until November, the My Bayou Classic Road Show brings the excitement of the State Farm Bayou Classic® to Grambling and Southern alumni, students and fans in the Gulf South.
The My Bayou Classic Road Show kicks off with a three-day tour across Louisiana. The first stop is noon on Wednesday, July 27 in Monroe, La., at the RW Sports Bar and Grill. Later that day, 6 p.m.-8 p.m., the My Bayou Classic Road Show will stop at the Southern University Museum of Art in Shreveport, located at 610 Texas Street.
“This is a great opportunity to meet Southern University’s head football coach Stump Mitchell, Grambling State University’s interim athletic director, Aaron James, Southern and Grambling alumni, State Farm agents, and all who love the Bayou Classic,” said Chuck Morse, marketing director of the State Farm Bayou Classic®. “There will be prizes, food and a lot of football talk.”
Once football season begins, the Road Show will travel to 10 football games – including Grambling and Southern homecoming games, the Port City Classic (Shreveport), Atlanta Football Classic, and State Fair Classic (Dallas).
Keep an eye out for the My Bayou Classic Road Show RV where fans can win prizes, meet Grambling and Southern alumni and former Bayou Classic participants, and share their favorite Bayou Classic experiences. The State Farm Bayou Classic® (November 26, 2011) features one of America's greatest college sports rivalries, bringing the fans and alumni of Southern University and Grambling State University to New Orleans for a celebration of football, family and the traditions and pageantry surrounding Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER, LA – The 2011 North Louisiana Travel Outlook Conference, an annual event hosted by the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau, will be held 8 a.m.-2 p.m., Thursday, August 11 at LakeHouse at Villaggio in Bossier City. This year’s keynote speaker is Lieutenant General Russel L. Special guest Lieutenant Governor Jay Dardenne will present an opening address to the conference at 8:30 a.m. Additional guest speakers include Bob Gorman (I-49), Wade Duty (Louisiana Casino Association), Bill Cooksey (Shreveport Airport Authority), Sarie Joubert (Chesapeake Energy) and Arlena Acree (Shreveport-Bossier Film Office).
The purpose of this conference is to report national and local trends in tourism and to provide insight to help Shreveport-Bossier’s tourism partners grow their businesses.

SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER, LA – Red River Revel Arts Festival organizers have announced details of the 2011 event, including details of a day-long bluegrass music showcase that will be held Sunday, October 2. The 2011 Red River Revel, the 36th annual installment of the festival, will be held October 1-8 in downtown Shreveport, Louisiana. The Revel is the largest outdoor arts festival in north Louisiana, attracting more than 180,000 visitors over the course of eight days and generating an economic impact of more than $10 million.
On Sunday, October 2, a bluegrass music celebration will take center stage as local Appalachian roots rockers Twang Darkly open up the Chase stage before regional acts Mill Creek, Blake Brothers, The Little Roy and Lizzie Show, The Greencards, and Grammy-winning artists, The Grascals round out the day. Performances will take place 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Admission is $5.00 all day long.

Eight-day festival expects to draw 180,000 for art, food and music
SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER, LA – Red River Revel organizers have announced details of the 2011 event, including a complete list of confirmed live music performers. The 2011 Red River Revel, the 36th annual installment of the festival, will be held October 1-8 in downtown Shreveport’s Festival Plaza. Presenting sponsors are Chesapeake Energy, the City of Shreveport, JP Morgan Chase, the Junior League of Shreveport-Bossier, Inc., Pepsi Beverages Company, and Willis-Knighton Health System. The Revel is the largest outdoor arts festival in north Louisiana, attracting more than 180,000 visitors over the course of eight days and generating an economic impact of more than $10 million.
A juried roster of 104 visual artists from 19 states will be displaying and selling their original works of art. An estimated 15,000 fourth graders from Caddo and Bossier Parish Schools will participate in hands-on, participatory arts education experiences ranging from dance and storytelling to quilting and the culinary arts.
Opening night will feature performances by popular alt-rock trio Better Than Ezra and special guests Super Water Sympathy. On Sunday, October 2, a Bluegrass music celebration will take center stage as local Appalachian roots rockers Twang Darkly opens up the Chase stage before regional acts Mill Creek, Blake Brothers, The Little Roy and Lizzie Show, The Greencards, and Grammy-winning artists, The Grascals round out the day. Singer-songwriter Katie Herzig will open for Civil Twilight, a rock trio from Capetown, South Africa whose songs were featured in the recent film “I Am Number Four” on Tuesday, October 4. Christian rockers Red perform on Wednesday, October 5. The Wes Jeans Band will open up for alt-country act Whiskey Myers on Thursday, October 6. Closing weekend will feature R&B/funk from Windstorm and The S.O.S. Band on Friday, October 7, and modern country courtesy of Cody Cooke and the Bayou Outlawz, who will open for country rapper and “Dirt Road Anthem” co-writer and original performer, Colt Ford on Saturday, October 8.
