SRAC, TACA, ASEANA & Shreveport Green come together for one BIG Texas Avenue Clean Up
Wear your play clothes and bring your gloves! Come help clean up Texas Avenue in downtown Shreveport. The Texas Avenue Community Association or TACA in partnership with SRAC, ASEANA and Shreveport Green will host the 1st Clean Up Day along Texas Avenue and the Shreveport Common area of downtown this Saturday, April 23. This is in preparation for several events like the ASEANA Spring Arts Festival that will take place the following weekend, Saturday, April 30. Click here to see a previous blog about other events happening in Shreveport-Bossier in April and May.
“This should be a lot of fun, and it’s a great way to show the community cares about the area,” said April Dahm, founder of TACA. Registration for the clean up will begin at 8:30 a.m., in the Municipal Auditorium parking lot. Coffee and donuts will be served, and at 9 am. clean up along Texas Avenue will begin and last until 11:30 a.m. A hot dog lunch and live entertainment will be provided from noon to 1 p.m.
TACA is dedicated to the revitalization of the Texas Avenue corridor and its surrounding neighborhoods. The local non-profit hosts the Maker’s Fair annually not only to bring attention to Texas Avenue, but also to bring crafters or ‘makers’ together to display and sell everything from clothing and accessories to toys, food and art -- all handmade. It’s free to get in, and parking is not a problem. Advice I found useful from their website “shoppers are encouraged to bring cash, as many vendors will not be able to process credit or debit card payments.”
If you would like to participate in the 1st Clean Up Day please notify April Dahm. This event is in cooperation with the ‘Keep America Beautiful’ campaign hosted by Shreveport Green.
