Have you ever used your smart phone to hail a taxi? Soon visitors and residents of Shreveport-Bossier will be able to do just that and in luxurious fashion. After several months of teasers, the phone application that will allow users to reserve their ride on the iShuttle is almost ready for public use. As anticipation builds, David Wimberly, CEO of iShuttle expects the website to be up and running this week. The application will be compatible with iPhone, Android and even some Blackberries, and in the event that your phone is none of the above, anyone with internet capability will be able to use iShuttle via the internet.
iShuttle isn’t like your average taxi service. In all honesty it’s a tricked out, luxurious, fun and interactive intracity transportation service. With 10 passenger vans making continuous routes around restaurants, bars and other frequented hot spots in Shreveport-Bossier, iShuttle will make getting to and from your favorite nightlife venues more convenient and entertaining than ever.
The vans not only serve as WiFi hotspots, but they also have iPod and mp3 player connectivity which will allow passengers to listen to their choice of music or watch video on a custom flat screen TV. By downloading the iShuttle app passengers can schedule, track and pay for their ride before it even shows up. And if you’re worried about punctuality, let this put you at ease.
At the recent downtown tour of homes event put on by the Downtown Development Authority, iShuttle provided prompt and convenient transportation for tour participants. “They were very timely, and the drivers were very courteous,” said Brandy Evans, vice president of communications at the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau.
