Got plans in April and May? We do… at Rendezvous on the Red that is. Downtown Shreveport and the Louisiana Boardwalk are gearing up for a good time with festivals, events and performances beginning April 1 and lasting through May 31. Here is a preview of what you can expect in the coming months.

Starting April 2nd, CORK: A Red River Revel Wine Event will take place in Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport from 3-6 p.m. Only 1,600 tickets will be sold at $65 each. You can visit their website for information on wine selections and table reservations.

The 63rd Annual Holiday in Dixie Festival will be back in Festival Plaza, April 8-17. The 10-day festival celebrating the Louisiana Purchase is one of the oldest running festivals in Louisiana. This classic carnival includes a treasure hunt, parade through downtown and a neighborhood block party making it one of the most popular in the area. Click here for more information about this year’s event.

ArtBreak has long been a favorite for area students and artists alike. Proudly recognized as the largest student arts festival in the South, ArtBreak is celebrating its 27th year showcasing student arts achievements and arts programs in Shreveport-Bossier. Find more information on the festival here.

The ASEANA Spring Festival, a celebration of Asian culture and Texas Avenue Makers Fair, a display of artists’ and crafters’ works are both taking place on April 30 in the area of downtown designated as Shreveport Common. The two events, while taking place side by side, have two very different purposes. To learn more about the ASEANA Spring Festival visit ShreveportBossierFunGuide and for more information about the Texas Avenue Makers Fair click here.

Just across the river at the Louisiana Boardwalk the 6th annual Ark-La-Tex Water Resource Festival will be held on Friday, May 6th & Saturday, May 7th. A Life Air Rescue Helicopter & U.S. Coast Guard Swift Boats will conduct a demonstration near the downtown Texas Street Bridge to promote boat and water safety as well as public education about the Red River. Click here for additional information.

Finally, the Mudbug Madness Festival will be here before you know it! May 26-29 will no doubt bring a good time to downtown Shreveport. Come early and get in free Thursday-Friday, and enjoy some of the best Cajun cuisine in Louisiana. Find out everything you need to know here.
