The Multicultural Center of the South is located at 520 Spring Street in downtown Shreveport

March is National Women’s History Month, and the Multicultural Center of the South is ready to celebrate. The Multicultural Teen Council will host a sip and see, Thursday, March 17, to honor the women of non-profit agencies in Shreveport-Bossier. The purpose, according to Curriculum Specialist Priscilla Metoyer, is to celebrate the work these women do and allow the community to meet and mingle with women who organize agencies and services throughout the area.

The Multicultural Center of the South is one of only three multicultural centers in the United States. They are dedicated to promoting education, appreciation and acceptance of diverse cultures and their history. Located at the corner of Spring Street and Milam Street in downtown Shreveport, the Multicultural Center resides in a beautiful Creole style building reminiscent of architecture found in the French Quarter.

Each month the center highlights a student of a different culture and nationality and his/her artwork. The museum features rooms dedicated to most cultures and nationalities represented in Northwest and other parts of Louisiana. Over 26 exhibits are on display continuously at the center including Africa, India and even Iraq and Iran. For more information about the Multicultural Center of the South click here.
