Twelfth Night Celebration
at Shreveport Convention Center

This Saturday, January 8, area Mardi Gras Krewes will be partying down at the annual Twelfth Night Celebration, marking the official start of Mardi Gras season. This all-Krewe occassion will be held at the Shreveport Convention Center, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. and the Royalty Presentation at 8:00 p.m. The 80's-themed event will feature live music by The Molly Ringwalds, and dress code is 80's attire or Mardi Gras Krewe Jacket.
There are a lot of reasons why this party is not to be missed: it marks the official start of Mardi Gras revelries and it is tremendously popular in the Ark-La-Tex (click here to read a Times article about the 2010 event selling out with more than 1,300 in attendance), making it a great place to mix, mingle, and people-watch. But I would be dishonest if I did not at least mention one of the key selling points that caught my eye: an open bar. A $40 event ticket with an open bar? Let the good times roll, indeed (and call a cab!).
Advance tickets are available on-line at the Krewe of Centaur website until 5:00 p.m. today (Thursday, January 6), after which you'll have to purchase tickets at one of the locations listed below or take a chance on getting tickets at the door. Last year, the Fire Marshall had to shut down ticket sales at the door at one point, citing occupancy limitations. And that's a biiiig Convention Center.
