Louisiana legends Rockin' Dopsie, Jr. and the Zydeco Twisters will be bringing their high-energy live show to Sam's Town Hotel & Casino on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

Rockin' Dopsie, Jr., the unpredictable frontman for for the Zydeco Twisters and son of Zydeco legend Rockin' Dopsie, is probably the only musician who draws frequent comparisons to James Brown and Mick Jagger while playing a washboard. But then again, there's nothing that's not unique about Dopsie or his band's frenetic live performance, which will be coming to Sam's Town Live! at Sam's Town Hotel & Casino on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
The only washboard-playing frontman in Zydeco (the accordion usually takes center stage), Dopsie and company perform traditional Zydeco numbers alongside Zydeco'd-up rock and soul favorites like James Brown's "Sex Machine" and Van Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl." If you're looking for authentic Louisiana music that'll make you dance the night away, consider making a stop by Sam's Town Live during your New Year's Eve revelry.
On a personal note, I'd like to tip my hat to Sam's Town for giving traditional Louisiana music a spot in their regular calendar. They've also got country-Cajun troubadour Jo-El Sonnier on their schedule for January 21 & 22. Both of these very different performers are steeped in Louisiana history, and don't neccessarily make it north of I-10 all that often.
One last request: If you come to Rockin Dopsie's NYE show, please don't make fun of my dancing.
