The national touring production of Monty Python's "Spamalot," a Tony Award-winning musical adapted from the beloved 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, comes to Shreveport's historic Strand Theatre tonight (Monday, December 20) at 7:30 PM. Written by Monty Python member Eric Idle, this all-new production maintains the irreverent, silly humor that fans have come to expect from the British comedy icons, including flying cows, killer rabbits, and much more.
Danny Fogger, Executive Director of The Strand Theatre, has said that the show is approaching sold out and is down to just a few remaining tickets. If you'd like to purchase tickets, call The Strand at (318) 226-8555 after 12:00 Noon today (Monday), as some new blocks of tickets may have been freed up by that time. Tickets range in price from $35.50-$58.50.
Just as a matter of personal opinion, it's fantastic to see a show like "Spamalot" selling out the 1,600-seat Strand. Earlier this season, the venue sold out the Broadway classic "Fiddler on the Roof," a more traditional Broadway staple (pun intended, as bad as it may have been). Broadway icons like "Fiddler" usually have no problem packing The Strand. But seeing Monty Python sell out has a special significance for The Strand - this kind of show brings a whole new audience to The Strand. Here's hoping they become regulars!
