GARDENS OF THE AMERICAN ROSE CENTER
HOSTS HARVEST MOON STROLL
Shreveport, LA- Guests are invited to take a moonlit stroll through the fall flush of colors at the Gardens of the American Rose Center on Sunday, October 4, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Visitors can gaze at the harvest moon through the telescopes of the Shreveport Astronomical Society, share a picnic as they listen to romantic melodies chime from Windsounds Tower or simply walk the Gardens’ paths and enjoy the beginning of the fall bloom season.
Traditionally, the harvest moon is the full moon occurring closest to the fall equinox. Its large, reddish-gold appearance is created by the seasonal tilt of the earth, and in times past, the harvest provided farmers with extra light as they worked to gather their fall harvests.
